Saturday 1st January 2011: NEW YEAR’S DAY
Urrrrrgggggghhhhhh! Ow, ow, ow - my toe was BLACK and SORE!!!!
We woke up and eventually dragged ourselves off to the kitchen for some much needed sausage sarnies.
The occupants of Nomad’s fell into three distinct categories
- those who were still comatose – the lucky few!
- those who were hung over and wishing each other a Happy New Year with bleary eyes and thumping heads
- those who were still ‘on it’ staggering around with half drunk bottle of vodka cruiser – they were largely responsible for those of us with hang overs being awake and in the kitchen.
We ate our breakie with Paul and Jenna making ambitious plans about heading down to the beach for the day. The hang overs and the weather soon put paid to that. It poured down ALL day! So there was nothing for it but to take to our beds!
We watched some truly shockingly bad film and did some more sleeping – the vodka cruiser crew eventually burnt themselves out, passed out and shut up!
Letr in the evening we ventured back out to the kitchen to cook up a fajita feast. We even managed a couple of beers. The hostel courtyard was the quietest it had been since our arrival – it seemed nobody could muster up the enthusiasm for a night out.
I was getting cabin fever from not having left the confines of the hostel and the rain had finally abated so we went out for a wander to see what was going on – not much, was the answer! So we had a moonlit stroll along the beachfront before we headed back to bed safe in the knowledge we weren’t missing out on anything!!!
