In Training For The Inca Trail

This was us getting in a practice for the Inca Trail. We decided we'd walk up Scafell Pike as a bit of a warm up. Its height is 3,209 ft (978 metres) and is the equivilant of a 16 mile walk. We decided to go for a more taxing, but scenically far superior route, which begins at Seathwaite Farm at the end of Borrowdale, proceeding via Styhead Tarn, then taking the Corridor Route. This was supposed to be a "delightful walk along the western flank of the Sca Fell massif with intimate views of the fell", but visiability was down to 30 yards so all we saw was alot of nothing As we aren't your typical outdoors type we both couldn't move for two days afterwards. We hope that no matter how difficult the Inca Trail gets we can reflect on this and know that we've been through worse!!

Me putting a brave face on it, walking down would prove tougher than I thought.

The return journey was along the high ridge, the terrain was relentless jagged rocks (above), which caused both of us lots of pain to our knees, ankles, shins, feet, hips, bums, thighs.......
